A Coralville man who allegedly supplied guns to two brothers who used them in a fatal shooting on Christmas night in 2019 has been sentenced to federal prison.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that 29-year-old Tremayne Clemons will spend 30 months behind bars for being an unlawful drug user in possession of firearms.

Police say 30-year-old Gregory Jackson of Iowa City was shot and killed in a shooting on Boston Way the evening of December 25th, 2019. Witnesses told officers that Elijah and Milton McAbee were frequently at Clemons’ apartment in the building next door, and had been seen there the night of the shooting. Investigators say the brothers were seeking revenge on Jackson for allegedly pistol whipping their father. Clemons reportedly sold them the weapons. Milton McAbee allegedly shot Jackson, while Elijah shot another person on scene.

A search warrant on Clemons’ apartment the next day found three firearms, boxes of ammunition and drug paraphernalia. That December 31st, Clemons was accused of possessing two firearms at a Coralville retail store. He allegedly admitted to having used drugs the day the search warrant was executed and before going to the store.

Trial for the McAbees is set for November 2nd in Johnson County Court.
