A candidate for Johnson County Supervisor has received a key endorsement.
State Senator Zach Wahls has announced his support for Meghann Foster for the vacant supervisor position. Wahls, who represents Senate District 37, is among the hundreds of delegates from the 2020 presidential caucus and county convention who will convene at the Johnson County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, May 11th to determine the Democratic nominee ahead of the June 8th special election.
In his endorsement, Wahls cited Foster’s service as a community leader and advocate for social services. Foster is currently a Coralville city councilor.
Joining Foster in the race so far are former Iowa City official Scott Finlayson and former Lone Tree mayor Jonathan Green.
The winner will take the seat vacated by supervisor Janelle Rettig, who announced her retirement earlier this month. Her term has 21 months remaining.
