The investigation continues into the cause of a house fire Thursday in North Liberty.
According to the North Liberty Fire Department, crews were dispatched to 190 Sugar Creek Lane just after 3pm for a building fire. The North Liberty Police Department was the first to arrive and witnessed significant fire on the south side of the building. All occupants had left the structure on their own and were accounted for upon arrival.
As North Liberty fire units arrived, firefighters deployed hose lines to knock down the fire, which was located on the exterior, the attic and in two apartments. Crews conducted a search of the building and extinguished remaining hot spots. Multiple crews were needed to suppress the fire, ventilate the building and perform overhaul operations. North Liberty firefighters were assisted by crews from Coralville and Solon.
The Red Cross was requested and is assisting occupants with immediate needs. A loss estimate is not available.
Crews were on the scene for just over four hours. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
