A University of Iowa student charged with having a fake ID is accused of telling police his mother was going to get involved in the case.

Iowa City Police were called to The Sports Column on South Dubuque Street just after midnight Friday for a subject refusing to leave and fighting with staff.  Arriving officers found 19-year-old Ethan Quinn of Currier Hall being held down by bouncers in the entryway.

Police say after they handcuffed Quinn and began walking him to the squad car, he began twisting and trying to pull away. He allegedly said, “My mom will have a field day with this!” Quinn was then directed to the ground.

Police say Quinn showed multiple signs of intoxication. A fictitious Indiana driver’s license showing him to be of legal drinking age was found on his person. Quinn allegedly claimed he was not intoxicated, but a portable Breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol content at .121%.

Quinn, who is originally from Park Ridge, IL, is charged with Interference with Official Acts, Public Intoxication, Possession of a Fictitious License, and Presence on Premises of a Licensed Liquor Establishment After Hours. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
