An Iowa City man was arrested over the weekend after an alleged domestic assault.

According to the woman victim, she was at the South Dodge Street residence of James Cason Saturday at around 3:10am. He reportedly was upset and became very aggressive. The woman told officers that Cason grabbed her by the sweatshirt collar and pulled her off the couch. He then allegedly dragged her across the floor, causing a cut on her foot and a bruise on her forearm. Cason left the scene before officers arrived.

The woman also told police that she’s the primary lessee on the residence, and although she doesn’t live there she stays with Cason often.

A warrant was obtained for Cason’s arrest and he was picked up early Sunday morning. He’s been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 2nd offense, a serious misdemeanor. A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
