Cedar Rapids police have arrested two people in connection with two vehicles that were stolen earlier this month.
According to a release from the Department, a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was reported stolen Tuesday at around 7:20 am from a parking lot on the 400 block of Hawkeye Downs Road Southwest. Surveillance video showed a Ford F-150 arrive with two suspects, one driving off with the Silverado at around 5am that morning.
Police had taken a report on a stolen F-150 on April 13th from a neighborhood on the northwest side of the city. The victim said the keys were in the truck, but the doors were supposedly locked and accessible with a keypad. The truck contained a 9mm handgun in the center console at the time, and surveillance video identified two suspects.
The Silverado that was stolen had a GPS tracker, and police located it near Ely in the 2400 block of Ivanhoe Road Southwest. Officers were joined by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol as they closed in on the vehicle, which was believed to be parked. They saw the stolen Silverado in a cornfield, with two individuals. The F-150 was also on scene.
One of the suspects attempted to run, but was quickly apprehended. He was identified as 22-year old Kyle Netolicky of Cedar Rapids. The other suspect was identified as Joshua Visek of Shellsburg.
Netolicky was wearing a holster for the gun stolen with the truck, and was found in possession of methamphetamine. The gun was recovered in a brush pile nearby. Visek also was found with meth on his person.
Netolicky was arrested for two counts of 1st Degree Theft, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Trafficking in Stolen Weapons, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Interference with Official Acts. He was transported to the Linn County Correctional Center.
Visek was transported to a local hospital for evaluation due to a medical condition as the result of allegedly taking a prescription medication and methamphetamine. He has charges pending of two counts of 1st Degree Theft and Possession of Methamphetamine.
