An ongoing dispute between neighbors escalated over the weekend, leading to two men being accused of damaging their neighbor’s house by throwing charcoal at it.
Iowa City Police were called to an apartment building on the 600 block of South Clinton Street just before 4:15 Saturday morning. A caller claimed she and her boyfriend were being harassed by two men on the 3rd floor of a building across the alley. The woman said the men had also thrown things at them, and had recorded her from her window and threatened to put the videos on Barstool.
An investigation identified the two men on the balcony as 20-year-old Nicholas Pinsel, who lives in the apartment, and 20-year-old Brandon Vandellinde of Algonquin, IL. Police say the two men had gotten into a verbal altercation with their neighbor. Well after the parties had separated, Pinsel and Vandellinde allegedly began throwing charcoal at the woman’s house, leaving several marks along the side of the building and the porch area. Responding officers say they observed some of the throws, which they described as harder than just a light toss.
Pinsel and Vandellinde were each charged with Disorderly Conduct, a simple misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 30 days in jail. An initial court appearance is set for May 21st.
