Three men were arrested for meth possession Thursday night after a generator fell of a trailer they were hauling.

According to arrest reports, 57-year-old Daniel Hoffman of Sioux City was hauling a generator that fell off his trailer at approximately 6:45pm. He pulled over on the Penn Street off –ramp from Interstate 380, and two passengers fled from the accident. When officers made contact with Hoffman, he allegedly admitted telling the two to flee.

A K9 was present and alerted to drugs inside the vehicle. Police located methamphetamine near the center console.

The two passengers were located and arrested as well. They were identified as 39-year-old Ty Hein of Davenport and 41-year-old Israel South of Moline. Hein was allegedly found a syringe with a clear liquid inside that will be tested by the Department of Criminal Investigation.

South made it to the Casey’s on Kansas Avenue before he was apprehended. He allegedly was found with a THC vape in his pocket, and his backpack reportedly contained a white crystalline substance consistent with meth. A grinder containing a green, leafy substance consistent with marijuana was also found in the pack.

All three were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to one year if convicted.
