A Wapello woman was arrested Thursday after being accused of taking out two charge cards using someone else’s name and running up thousands in charges.

According to arrest reports, 25 year-old Samantha Slutts of 105th Street opened an Ashley Furniture account using the victim’s information without his authorization. She began using the account in May of 2019, and over the course of three months racked up nearly $2500 in charges.

Slutts also allegedly took out a Capitol One credit card in May of 2019 using the same man’s information without his knowledge. Through November of that year, she’s accused of acquiring a balance of over $5000.

The man wasn’t made aware of the cards until he checked his credit history and saw the unfamiliar accounts. When questioned, Slutts allegedly admitted to opening the accounts and making the purchases.

A warrant was issued for her arrest on April 1st, and she was arrested Thursday afternoon. She’s charged with two counts of Identity Theft and could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison if convicted.
