A North Liberty man arrested on drug possession charges two months ago during a traffic stop led to a search warrant being executed on a residence where he was present this week.
Police say their initial contact with 19-year-old Emmanuel Ross of Cattail Lane occurred on the afternoon of February 6th. Allegedly, the vehicle smelled strongly of marijuana, and during the search, he was reportedly found in possession of approximately 12 grams of loose marijuana in several small plastic bags, consistent with intent to sell and/or deliver. Ross also allegedly had a large amount of tens and twenties on him, four THC cartridges and several tobacco products. There were also three alcohol shooters in Ross’ glove compartment.
He was charged with a controlled substance violation, as well as Driving while Suspended, and Possession of Alcohol as a Minor.
His companion, 18-year-old Natalya Johnson, was charged with Possession of a Fictitious ID, Marijuana Possession, and Possession of Alcohol under Legal Age second offense.
Iowa City detectives executed a search warrant Wednesday evening on a residence at 713 Arch Rock Road. During their search, officers allegedly found over 200 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and packaging material. Ross, who was present, was charged with a Class D Controlled Substance Violation and now could be sentenced to over seven years in prison if convicted on all counts related to the two incidents.
