A Clear Creek Amana school board member has resigned after the district became aware of a controversial post made on Facebook.

KWWL TV reports that Superintendent Tim Kuehl did not name the school board member in an email sent to district families Thursday, but board member Kathy Swenka is no longer listed on the district’s website under the school board tab.

Swenka allegedly commented on a Fox News post regarding Phillip Adams, the former NFL player who killed five people before taking his own life. A comment with Swenka’s name attached to it said, “Oh no, he’s not white, what do we do now???”

The station reports that families and staff members accused the district of ignoring multiple reports of racist behavior last summer, and the district is currently trying to make the district more equitable to all students.
