Cedar Rapids Police have arrested a man accused of abusing a puppy who was brought to an animal care center with several broken bones.
Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids got a call on the morning of April 1st from a person in possession of an injured 12-week old Golden Retriever after a teenager left the dog at their house. The dog reportedly may have been slammed onto the ground causing injury.
The puppy had two fractured legs and other fractures. He had surgery on Wednesday.
Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control conducted an investigation with police, and tips provided by the public led them to arrest 22 year old Jayden Cliff. He allegedly grabbed the Retriever and threw him to the ground after he had defecated on a bed, then kicked him when he continued to defecate on the floor.
Cliff has been charged with Animal Abuse causing Serious Injury, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years if convicted.
