An Iowa City man has been arrested on Extortion charges after allegedly threatening to send nude images of a victim to other people.
According to police, the incident occurred on December 29th, when 29-year-old Kelvin Ware demanded that the victim send him pornographic photos. Ware allegedly already possessed multiple nude photographs of the victim, but he reportedly threatened to publish them on social media if the victim didn’t provide him with new images. Ware allegedly made these threats multiple times.
Police say Ware then sent nude photographs of the victim to another individual without the victim’s consent.
A warrant for Ware’s arrest was issued on April 2nd, and he was arrested Sunday morning .He’s been charged with Extortion, a Class D Felony, and 1st degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
