So far, almost one in four Johnson County residents has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with more than one in three having had at least one dose of one of the available vaccines.

That’s according to an update released by the University of Iowa on Friday. The update states that as of Friday morning, 34,733 Johnson County residents had completed a two-dose series. Another 1,146 had completed single-dose vaccinations.

An estimated 20,935 residents have completed a single dose of the two-dose series. That breaks down to 37.6% of Johnson County’s population having received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. 23.75% have been fully vaccinated.

The UI itself reported eight new cases of COVID-19 among students between Wednesday and Friday and zero new cases among employees in that timeframe. Zero residence hall occupants are currently in quarantine, and two are in self-isolation. Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others, while self-isolation is used separate those diagnosed with the virus from healthy students.
