Governor Kim Reynolds says the University of Iowa will get an allocation of Johnson and Johnson vaccines for students and staff. It’s part of a statewide effort to vaccinate university students before they head home for the summer.

In a press conference Wednesday, Reynolds said she’s collaborating with Regent-governed universities, private colleges, and community colleges, but only named the U of I as the only state-run university that will be getting next week’s Johnson and Johnson allocation.

The Daily Iowan reports that the Iowa Department of Public Health informed them that they’re working with colleges across the state to plan clinics where students and staff can be vaccinated.

A campus e-mail said officials will have more information on scheduling the shots on Friday.
