A Coralville man was taken into custody over the weekend after allegedly throwing a phone at the woman he lives with.

Officers were called to the 2200 block of Holiday Road at approximately 8pm Sunday on reports of a fight in progress. Their investigation reportedly showed that the woman was hit in the head with the phone, causing a large hematoma and scrapes. The woman complained of pain as a result.

After being read his Miranda rights, 40-year-old Lucas Penner admitted to fighting with the woman and throwing the phone back at her. A witness on scene reported that Penner also struck and grabbed the woman around the head during the altercation. Penner allegedly said that he restrained her so that she would quit fighting with him.

Penner was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to one year if convicted.
