Allegedly selling cocaine out of his apartment has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.

Iowa City Police say they executed a search warrant on 615 S. Governor Street Apartment 10 at noon on January 28th. They report discovering a saleable quantity of suspected cocaine packaged for sale, a digital scale, and U.S. currency. DCI testing confirmed the substance was cocaine and cocaine base, and on Wednesday an arrest warrant was issued for the apartment’s resident, 42-year-old Lavail Drain.

Drain was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 3:45 Saturday afternoon and charged with two Controlled Substance Violations. A review of Drain’s phone records allegedly showed he had been selling cocaine.

If convicted on both charges, Drain faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
