An Iowa City man has been taken into custody after allegedly admitting to being “a little too rough” when he tried to throw a man out of a second-story window.
According to police, they were dispatched to Amhurst Street around 2:15am Monday on reports of an assault. Upon arrival, the victim was found on the ground near an apartment building and reported that 37- year-old Warren McDuffie had come down stairs where he was relaxing and attacked him without provocation.
The man stated that McDuffie punched him in the eye, carried him a distance, and attempted to throw him out of a second-story window. He then allegedly threw him outside into the front yard.
The victim sustained multiple facial injuries, including a swollen right eye and a bloody mouth. He was ambulanced to a local hospital. Upon questioning McDuffie, he reportedly admitted to forcing the man out of the residence by first attempting to throw him out the window. He allegedly admitted to being a little too rough with the man, who had been living at the residence for approximately six months.
McDuffie was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to one year if convicted.
