The Iowa City Council announced Monday that their meetings will now start an hour earlier.
The permanent change means that work sessions and formal meetings, both normally held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month, will begin earlier: work sessions at 4 p.m. and formal meetings at 6 p.m.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the meetings are still being held via Zoom. Residents can still participate and can comment on an agenda item using the same platform. Details are available on the city’s website at www.icgov.org/councildocs.
Last week’s council meeting was a marathon session, lasting until nearly 12:30am. There is no indication that the length of the meeting caused the Council to change the starting time.
