An Oxford man reportedly became belligerent when arrested for his 2nd OWI Wednesday night.

Police say that 42-year-old Andrew Smith of 400th Street SW was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, and is accused of driving home from a bar after drinking. When confronted by police, he said he had 3-4 beers after arriving at his residence, but his girlfriend told a different story. She claimed that Smith had nothing to drink while at their residence, and his vehicle had open containers of alcoholic beverages.

Smith reportedly agreed to field tests, then became irate and refused to continue with the tests. Police say Smith was extremely vulgar, had heavily slurred speech and bloodshot watery eyes.

He was taken into custody, and could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted of OWI second offense.
