North Liberty woman accused of taking employer’s deposit to pay bills

A North Liberty woman was taken into custody after allegedly taking the store receipts from her employer for her personal use instead of depositing them.

According to the arrest report, 30-year-old Krystle Burrows of Village Drive was employed at the Casey’s on West Zeller Street on Februray 3rd. She’s accused of taking money meant for deposit and keeping the funds for herself.

The store says Burrows  was supposed to deposit over $1650 in the bank and discovered her alleged crime when the deposit turned up missing. Upon questioning, she stated she was having financial issues and needed the money to pay bills.

A warrant was issued for her arrest and served to Burrows on Wednesday. She faces 2nd Degree Theft charges and could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted.
