The marathon race between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City will not happen again this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organizers of RUN CRANDIC posted on their Facebook page Monday that after meeting with public health officials, it became clear that they couldn’t hold the race this spring.

The race involves coordination with multiple municipalities and agencies, and officials announced they’re now focusing on RUN CRANDIC 2022, due to be held the weekend of April 23-24.

The marathon began in 2018 with a route from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City, and switched directions in 2019. It was held virtually last year due to the pandemic.
