A drunk driving suspect faces charges that he attacked University of Iowa Police.

Arrest records indicate 32-year-old Justin Brown, a resident of the Iowa Lodge on The Coralville Strip, was having trouble driving out of the Iowa Memorial Union parking ramp just after 11:45 Saturday night. A concerned citizen called the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communication Center, and UI Police were dispatched to the scene.

Brown allegedly shut off his 2007 Honda Odyssey and exited the vehicle as officers arrived. He was allegedly unable to complete field sobriety tests and breath testing. Police say Brown refused commands from officers and showed signs of intoxication. He allegedly fought with officers, including kicking at them when they tried to place him into a squad car. He allegedly continued fighting with offciers after arriving at UI Police headquarters on South Capitol Street, including breaking a phone inside the building as well as his own cellphone.

Brown is charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, Interference With Official Acts and 5th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over two years in prison.
