An Iowa City murder suspect has waived his right to a speedy trial.

33-year-old Patrick Bland of Rockford, Illinois officially waived that right Friday in Johnson County Court. Bland is accused of helping 45-year-old Reginald Little of Cross Park Avenue and 23-year-old Durojaiye Rosa of Broadway Street in killing Kejuan Winters in his Broadway Street apartment on April 20th, 2020. Rosa, who lived in Winters’ building, allegedly told investigators that the men entered Winters’ apartment only with the intent of robbing him, not shooting him. Winters, who was unarmed, died at the scene.  Little is believed to be the gunman.

All three men are charged with 1st Degree Murder, which is punishable by life in prison if convicted.

Bland was originally scheduled to go on trial on May 11th. A new trial date has not yet been set.

Little’s trial is set to begin on September 21st, with a case management conference set for June 25th. On Friday, Judge Lars Anderson denied Little’s request for a second counsel.

Rosa has a pretrial conference set for April 2nd, with trial scheduled for May 11th.
