A United States House of Representatives committee will consider a resolution to dismiss a challenge in Iowa’s 2nd congressional district race.

The Press-Citizen reports that the Committee on Administration will consider a resolution to postpone its consideration of a motion made by U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who’s been seated provisionally, to dismiss a petition from Democrat Rita Hart to review the race’s six-vote margin until after the committee considers the merits of Hart’s petition.

Hart filed a challenge under the Federal Contested Election Act over 22 uncounted ballots that she says would put her ahead in the race. She wants Congress to intervene and recount all the ballots cast in the race across the district.

Miller-Meeks has asked the committee to dismiss Hart’s challenge. Her lawyers say Hart appealed to Congress before exhausting all her options in Iowa, putting her out of order.

The Press-Citizen also reports that Miller-Meeks’ attorney, Alan Ostergren, has been out looking for uncounted votes in the district.

The hearing is scheduled for 11am today and can be seen live on the Committee on House Administration’s YouTube Channel. 5 Democrats and 3 Republicans are on the committee.
