One killed in overnight I-380 accident

One person was killed in an overnight accident that shut down Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids.

According to Cedar Rapids Police, officers were called to a two-vehicle accident near the 7th Street exit just after 2am Sunday. Investigators discovered an SUV with four occupants had been hit by a truck with one occupant. A passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants were transported to local hospitals with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident shut down northbound lanes of traffic for over three hours.

The names of the victims involved are being withheld pending notification of family members. The investigation is ongoing.
