An Iowa City man whose sister allegedly assaulted their other sister faces charges that he punched their other brother in the throat.

According to the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Matthew Iglehart of Iowa City was the primary aggressor in an incident on 280th Street in West Branch just before 4am on February 15th. Iglehart allegedly pushed through two women and punched his brother in the throat, causing injury. The two women are not identified in police records.

Iglehart is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing earlier this week. If convicted, Iglehart faces a maximum of one year in jail.

Iglehart’s sister, Shanna Iglehart, was charged with Domestic Assault Causing Injury last December after she allegedly attacked her sister for spilling hot sauce on the stairs of their shared residence. She also faces a maximum of one year in jail, if convicted.

Both Igleharts have previous criminal histories.
