A Mason City man staying at the Iowa City Wet Shelter was arrested after punching another man.
Police say Wednesday night around 11:15, 48-year-old William Loehr reportedly was smoking in a prohibited area of the shelter. Another guest confronted him, and they got into a verbal altercation that resulted in Loehr reportedly punching the man in the face.
An employee of the wet shelter witnessed the assault. The man had no observed injuries, but he complained of pain and said he was in fear for his safety.
Loehr was taken into custody and charged with assault, a simple misdemeanor.
