A Colorado-based travel company has agreed to refund over $600,000 to Iowa high school band members who signed up for a tour of Europe last year, only to have it canceled due to COVID-19.

The state Attorney General’s office announced Wednesday that Voyagers International voluntarily agreed to reimburse the teens and their parents, who paid between $6345 and $6745 each for the European tour, while an additional 40 paid an extra $2000 for a side trip to Greece.

The AG’s office accused the company of violating the Travel Agencies and Agents Law, the state Door to Door Sales Act, and the state Consumer Fraud Act. Among the allegations were that Voyagers International failed to register as a travel agency with the Secretary of State’s Office.

The Attorney General’s Office is working on getting the refunds to those affected.
