Driving without plates and having a defective brake light led to a weapons charge against a Rock Island Illinois woman Sunday.
28-year-old Antiana Robinson was observed in the 400 block of the Coralville Strip driving without front or back license plates just before 4:30am. Officers stopped Robinson, and noted the odor of marijuana coming from her vehicle. A check of her driving status showed it as revoked in Iowa for refusing to submit to an OWI test. As the officer returned to the vehicle, the other officer told him that Robinson had a firearm in the driver’s side rear door. The firearm was recovered and reportedly had a loaded magazine.
Robinson denied any prior knowledge of the firearm’s existence. She has no permit to carry a firearm in the state, and has a prior criminal mischief felony which would preclude her from having one.
She’s been initially charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon and Driving while Revoked. If convicted, Robinson could face up to six years in prison.
