The Iowa City Community School District announced that staff that was eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccination will have received their first doses by mid-week.
The Press-Citizen reports that staff from the Iowa City and Solon districts have already completed their first vaccinations, and Clear Creek Amana will have theirs wrapped up by Wednesday.
Superintendent Matt Degner says that although the Centers for Disease Control advised that vaccinating teachers wasn’t a must to get back to in-person learning, the majority of staff from all three districts elected to get shots.
The district also says that coronavirus mitigation measures will continue as usual, with mask wearing, social distancing and deep cleaning still being employed.
