Iowa City Police have arrested a suspect they say they found standing over an unconscious man downtown early Sunday morning.
According to arrest records, officers observed 19-year-old Camden Murphy of Columbia, Missouri standing over an unconscious man on the ground near the corner of Dubuque and Burlington Streets just after 1am Sunday. Murphy allegedly fled on foot when he saw an officer in a patrol car, and refused commands to stop. A brief foot chase ensued, ending with Murphy’s capture on the 300 block of South Linn Street.
Murphy allegedly showed multiple signs of intoxication, was wearing a bar wristband and admitted to having “too much to drink”.
A search of Murphy’s person turned up three fake ID’s. Two of them were Missouri ID’s with his face on them and a listed date of birth making him over 21 years of age.
Murphy is charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of a Fake ID and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 14 months in jail.
