A drunk driving suspect from Cedar Rapids vomited, passed out, and vomited again when confronted by law enforcement.

That’s according to Iowa City Police, who say they found 19-year-old Brandon Egger of Juniper Drive SW passed out behind the wheel of his 2001 Pontiac Bonneville just before 3:30 Saturday morning in the roundabout at Grand Avenue and South Grand Avenue, in front of the University of Iowa Fieldhouse. The vehicle was still running and in drive when officers arrived.

Police say when they knocked on the window, Egger seemed to wake up, but he then threw up and failed to respond to them. Egger passed out again, at which time an officer broke the window, shut the car off and put it in park. Egger then continued vomiting on himself.

Egger allegedly showed multiple signs of intoxication other than the vomiting. He was taken to the nearby UI Hospitals and Clinics, where he became more alert and was cleared by medical personnel to be turned over for arrest. Police say Egger showed significant impairment on field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol content of .157% on a portable Breathalyzer test and .149% on a Datamatser. He was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
