A Donnellson Iowa man has been taken into custody after violating a no-contact order and assaulting the other party in Iowa City over the weekend.

Police say the incident occurred at the victim’s South Dubuque Street residence just before 3:30am Sunday. Officers were dispatched to the area on reports of a fight. Upon arrival, the woman was crying and 25-year-old Tyler Stuekerjuergren was inside the apartment. He’s accused of going into the woman’s apartment without her permission, then assaulting her.

Stuekerjuergren allegedly slammed the woman’s head into a kitchen cabinet, then stuck his fingers in her mouth and pulled on her cheeks. He then reportedly grabbed her by the neck, choking her for about 30 seconds.

When the woman asked Stuekerjuergren to leave, he allegedly said he would just go through the window, then slammed his head into the window, breaking it.

The woman was observed with dried blood on the inside of her mouth.

Stuekerjuergren was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault impeding Airflow, and violation of the No-Contact order. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to five years in prison. Another no-contact order was requested between the parties.
