Iowa City Police are investigating a homicide.
According to an ICPD news release, just before 8pm officers were called to an apartment in the 600 block of South Governor Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased adult male victim. A witness advised that three men entered the residence, shot the victim, and fled.
The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department, the Johnson County Attorney’s Office, and the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office. The victim has been identified, but the identity will not be released pending family notification and autopsy, which is scheduled for Monday.
Police say there does not appear to be a safety threat to the general public at this time.
