An Iowa City man with a history of breaking into cars was arrested again Thursday night for the same offense.
Iowa City Police say 19-year-old Jeiden Fair of Amber Lane was captured on security video attempting to break into two cars at 951 Dover Street around 10pm Thursday. Fair was located by police a short time later walking along Carver Street. He allegedly fled when he saw the police car, but was apprehended after a brief foot chase.
Fair is charged with two counts of Attempted 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and one count of Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on all three charges, he faces a maximum of 25 months in jail.
Fair faces seven other burglary charges after allegedly breaking into cars over the last several months, including January, December, August and July. His next court date in those cases is on Monday.
