A Middle Amana man who was convicted of his second OWI last May has been charged with his third after rolling his vehicle early Thursday morning.
Police say 25-year-old Isaiah Berger of K Street was in the 1100 block of Highway 6 Northwest in Oxford just before 12:45am when he left the roadway and rolled his Toyota 4-Runner. The vehicle ended up in the roadway, on its side.
Deputies who arrived on scene say that Berger had slurred speech and droopy eyes. Field tests were conducted and measurable signs of impairment were observed. A warrant for a blood draw was granted and executed.
Berger has two prior OWI convictions in Johnson County, in August of 2017 and August of last year.
He was taken into custody and charged with his 3rd OWI, which is a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years. Bond was posted and Berger was released from the Johnson County Jail Thursday afternoon, awaiting further court action.
