Former Iowa football strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle has landed an NFL job.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced Doyle as the team’s new director of sports performance. The University of Iowa paid Doyle a $1.1 million separation agreement last summer after allegations surfaced from former players that he had made racist comments and belittled players during his Hawkeye tenure.

New Jacksonville head coach Urban Meyer addressed Doyle’s hiring at a Thursday news conference. Meyer said team owner Shad Khan signed off on the hire, and that Doyle had been thoroughly vetted. Meyer went on to add that he doesn’t see any issues with Doyle going forward, and doesn’t think his hiring will hurt the team’s chances of hiring free agents.
