The City of Cedar Rapids plans on offering outdoor service area permits on private property and public sidewalk areas again this year.

The program, which began as a way for businesses to serve patrons while also promoting social distancing, is free of charge. Standard permitting and fees will still apply to alcohol licensing.

The release from the city says that those that applied for the outdoor service area permit in 2020 will have to reapply again this year. The new permits will expire on December 31st.
