An Iowa City karaoke cafe is on sale for $1.

Lark and Owl owner Yi Zhang told The Daily Iowan he plans to sell the business due to a lack of customers. He said he would feel badly if he gave the business away for free, so he plans to sell it for a fresh $1 bill. He plans to keep and frame the bill to remind himself in the future of his failed business venture .

Zhang, who also owns Jianghu Asian Street Food on East Court Street, said Lark and Owl has had hardly any customers since the current coronavirus pandemic began last March. The lack of profits has made Zhang unable to staff the business on a regular basis. He says he needed to unload the cafe to keep his other restaurant afloat.

Lark and Owl is located on South Gilbert Street, across from the Robert A. Lee Recreation center. Zhang told the DI he has four or five interested buyers, and any of them can take over the business as soon as they sign the lease.
