The cause has been determined for a Saturday morning house fire in Cedar Rapids.

According to a release from the Cedar Rapids Public Safety Department, the fire at 3729 G Avenue NE started on a stovetop in the kitchen. A burner was apparently left on accidentally after the occupant was cooking. The fire has been ruled accidental.

Fire crews were called to the residence just before 1:45 Saturday morning for multiple reports of a house on fire. Arriving firefighters found flames coming from two sides of the home. One occupant reported that everyone had evacuated safely.

The fire was eventually extinguished, with firefighters successfully protecting houses on both sides and a detached garage.

The house is considered a total loss, and the family has been displaced. There were no reported injuries.
