Early morning fire destroys CR house

An early morning fire has destroyed a house in Cedar Rapids.

According to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, crews were called to 3729 G Avenue NE just before 1:45 Saturday morning for multiple reports of a house on fire. Arriving firefighters found flames coming from two sides of the home. One occupant reported that everyone had evacuated safely.

The fire was eventually extinguished, with firefighters successfully protecting houses on both sides and a detached garage.

The house is considered a total loss, and the family has been displaced. There were no reported injuries. The fire remains under investigation.
