A North Liberty man accused of robbing a man he requested a ride from last year has been arrested.

The incident occurred in the parking lot at the Town and Campus Apartments on Arthur Street the afternoon of November 6th.  35-year-old Ernest Allen of Watercrest Road contacted the alleged victim and requested a ride. He met the victim in his own vehicle in the parking lot and then requested a ride to a different location.

Upon arrival at the destination, Allen asked for $10 from the man. When he retrieved his wallet to give Allen the money, the man reported that he felt a handgun being pressed into his hip as Allen said, “You know what this is.”

Allen allegedly took all of the victim’s money while pointing a handgun at him. He’s then accused of threatening to shoot the man and warned him not to follow him.

A warrant for Allen’s arrest was issued January 15th, and he was arrested Monday afternoon. During his court appearance Tuesday, Judge Deborah Minot set bond at $15,000 and ordered Allen to not possess any firearms or ammunition. He’s also not allowed to have contact with the victim.

Allen has been charged with 1st Degree Robbery, a Class B Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to 25 years if convicted. Further court dates have not been scheduled.
