A Coralville woman who allegedly accused her live-in boyfriend of visiting a strip club was taken into custody Tuesday after an alleged assault.

Officers responded to the Holiday Road apartment of 20-year-old Sha’Kenyah Grisby just before 1am on reports of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, Grisby’s boyfriend, who’s lived with her at the address for the past year, stepped outside to speak with authorities. He reportedly had fresh dried blood inside his nose and on his shirt, with a scratch mark below his right eyebrow. He accused Grisby of punching him in the face.

When asked what led up to the alleged assault, the man said that he had been out with co-workers having drinks. When he returned home, Grisby accused him of being at a strip club. She reportedly got angry with her boyfriend, and took his phone off the couch. He went to retrieve the phone, and the two started wrestling over it. It was during that skirmish that Grisby allegedly elbowed the man in the face, causing the bloody nose.

Officers attempted to speak with Grisby about the incident, but she reportedly refused to talk about the incident. It was determined that she was the primary aggressor, and she was taken into custody.

Grisby was charged with Domestic Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a maximum jail sentence of 1 year if convicted. A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
