A Coralville sex offender is back behind bars after police say he failed to appear at an in-person verification meeting.

According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, 35-year-old Joseph Moore of the Iowa Lodge on The Coralville Strip is required to verify his residency information every three months in-person at his local sheriff’s office. A sex offender registry clerk notified the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office that Moore had failed to appear at his scheduled November meeting.

Moore has convictions for Attempt to Commit Sexual Abuse in Oregon from 2012 and Assault With Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse in Johnson County in 2014. The Oregon victim was seven years old at the time of the assault.

Moore was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 5:30 Friday night and charged with a Sex Offender Registry Violation. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
