A transient faces charges that she threatened Coralville bar employees, then attacked multiple police officers who tried to arrest her.

According to Coralville Police, officers were called to Tailgators on Hayden Fry Way just before 1:45 Sunday morning after 31-year-old Lasondra Cook was allegedly causing a disturbance and threatening bar staff. Tailgators staff told investigators Cook had arrived about an hour before they were called, and she was already intoxicated when she entered the bar. She then began fighting with staff who told her to leave, including throwing glasses and napkins.

Cook was found outside in her vehicle by arriving officers, who say she was “obviously intoxicated”.

Cook refused breath testing. Police say she resisted arrest, including kicking officers, spitting on two of them and attempting to bite them.

Cook was also wanted for failing to appear at a 2019 arraignment on Assault, Trespassing and Interference With Official Acts charges stemming from another Coralville incident in February of that year. Cook had allegedly refused to leave an apartment on 1st Street when asked, and punched the resident in the face. She also allegedly resisted arrest in that case.

Cook was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 3am Sunday. She’s charged with three counts of Assault on a Peace Officer or Others and one count each of Assault, Interference With Officials Acts, Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, and Trespassing. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of three years and five months in prison.
