A local transient has been arrested after he allegedly attacked another man with a carpet razor.
Iowa City Police were called to Shelter House on Southgate Avenue at 9:45 Friday night for a fight in progress. An investigation determined that 56-year-old Shelter House resident Adrian Stokes had been in an argument with another man outside the facility when the other man tried to remove himself from the situation by going back inside. Stokes then allegedly produced a carpet razor and chased the man, attempting to injure him with the device. The man fell down during the pursuit, injuring himself.
Stokes was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 10:30 Friday night and charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
Stokes is awaiting a March 11th trial on Animal Neglect charges after allegedly locking his dog in the trunk of his car at the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street last November.
