Coralville Police have made an arrest in a shots fired incident from earlier this month.

33-year-old Dejuan Scott was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after noon Friday. Police say Scott was the gunman who fired shots outside his Boston Way apartment building just before 2am on Saturday, January 9th. He was identified after the incident was caught on surveillance video.

A check of Scott’s criminal history shows he has prior convictions for domestic abuse assault and child endangerment in Iowa in 2016, and felony robbery and assault convictions in Cook County, Illinois from 2008. Both convictions disqualify him from legally possessing a firearm.

Scott is charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm By a Felon, Carrying Weapons, and Reckless Use of a Firearm. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over seven years in prison.

Scott was given a two-year suspended sentence in 2019 on similar charges after brandishing a .22 caliber pistol in the parking lot of the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street in Iowa City.
