An Iowa City man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly fleeing a domestic incident.

Police responded to the 3300 block of East Washington Street on reports of a domestic assault where an injury had reportedly occurred. As officers arrived, they could hear the slamming of a door immediately outside of the apartment they were dispatched to.

Going outside, they observed a man in a red hoodie running from the scene. Officers ordered the man to stop, but he reportedly ignored their repeated commands and continued to run. The man, identified as 21 year old Olajude Krebs, was eventually apprehended. He allegedly told police that he was carrying a firearm, and admitted to intentionally evading them.

Krebs did not have a valid firearms permit, and wasn’t carrying identification. He was allegedly found to be under the influence of cannabis at the time of the incident.

Krebs faces charges of Interference with Official Acts involving a dangerous weapon, Carrying Weapons, and Carrying Weapons while intoxicated. If convicted on all counts, Krebs could be sentenced to up to 8 years in prison.
