A Coralville man was arrested late Wednesday night after allegedly stealing two trucks and leading authorities on a county-wide chase.

Police say they came upon 26-year-old Ray Troyer of Holiday Road in the old Anhydrous Tanks parking lot on Heartland Drive around 11:50 pm. When an officer went to check on him, he took off in a Ram pickup at a high rate of speed. The vehicle had no plates.

The chase began on Heartland Drive and continued as officers, deputies and troopers reportedly chased Troyer throughout western Johnson County. He eventually wrecked the vehicle and reportedly stole another vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado, from a residence. The pursuit continued until Troyer was eventually apprehended in Oxford.

Authorities say speeds reached over 95 miles an hour during the pursuits.

A check of the wrecked truck turned up a pipe and pills in plain view. Troyer allegedly had slurred speech and impaired balance, but refused further testing after a PBT showed no alcohol in his system.

Troyer faces a long list of charges. They include two counts of 2nd Degree Theft, two counts of Driving while Barred as a Habitual Offender, two counts of Eluding, 2nd offense Controlled Substance Possession, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, OWI first offense, and 3rd degree Burglary. If convicted on all counts, Troyer could be sentenced to over 37 years in prison.
